Note: The village of Dettingen is located on the Main River in the district of Unterfranken in Bavaria, some 10 miles northwest of Aschaffenburg. It is famous in history as the site where British, Austrian, and Hanoverian troops defeated the French in 1743 in War of the Austrian Succession. Handel wrote his Dettingen Te Deum in celebration of this victory. The village is now part of the larger municipality of Karlstein.
