Note: Ancient Nubian site located in northern Sudan. It was founded during the Middle Kingdom, rose to prominence from 300 BCE-350 CE, and eventually became a Christian site in the 7th century. The site was flooded by the creation of Lake Nasser in 1964, and remains underwater.
