Note: Lost trading port city on the Caspian Sea, believed to be located on or near the mouth of the Gorgan River in Iran. It may be connected with the Sōkanda river in ancient Hyrcania, as mentioned by Ptolemy (Geographia 6.9.2.). It is speculated that the city was located on an island, and engulfed by the sea in the 13th century.
