Camino de Santiago de Compostela (road) |
Note: Network of ancient pilgrimage routes in Europe. The original Camino de Santiago ran from the north of the Iberian peninsula to Santiago de Compostela, on the border of France. The network was important for the spread of knowledge and religion as well as for trade. The "route" has been expanded and defined as a large network of over 1,500 km of routes, dating from the Middle Ages, and is a World Heritage Site. |
