Note: Site of large Neolithic settlement of multishaped clay huts, with floors often below the ground. Each hut had one to six pillars supporting a thatched roof. Several kilns and a number of red and gray bowls and jars, some with black geometric figures, were found at the site. Banpo was excavated from 1954 to 1957, and a museum now stands on the site.
