Note: This is a federally-recognized reservation stewarded by the Mechoopda Indian Tribe of Chico Rancheria. The reservation spans approximately 650 acres in Butte County, California. The Mechoopda ancestral village, Tadoiko, was located on Little Butte Creek a few miles south of present-day Chico. However, the Tribe suffered a series of forced migrations until 1868 when it was relocated to the Chico Rancheria. Upon the Tribe's federal recognition in 1992, it secured 650 acres of their original reservation as "restored lands." |
