Note: The Bayerische Alpen is a mountain range, a subrange of the Alps, rising between Germany and Austria. The range stretches east northeastward for 70 miles from the Lechtaler Alps to the bend of the Inn River near Kufstein, Austria. Its northern side slopes easily enough to allow the pasturing of livestock, while the southern side is very steep. There are two main passes through it, the Achen Pass and the Scharnitz Pass, both offering road travel. |
