Note: Visual display technology which uses liquid crystals that change their alignment and become visible when electrical voltage is applied to them. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly. They reflect light from an external source, or can be illuminated from behind. LCDs may be made up of any number of segments, large as in the elements of a digital clock, or tiny, representing pixels on a computer or video monitor. They may be in color or monochrome, depending on the application. |

Dutch ..... Visuele weergavetechnologie waarbij vloeibare kristallen worden gebruikt die van richting veranderen en zichtbaar worden wanneer er elektrische spanning op wordt gezet. Vloeibare kristallen zenden licht niet direct uit. Ze reflecteren licht van een externe bron, of kunnen van achteren worden verlicht. Lcd's kunnen uit een willekeurig aantal segmenten bestaan, die groot kunnen zijn in bijvoorbeeld de elementen van een digitale klok of klein bij de pixels van een computer- of videobeeldscherm. Ze kunnen in kleur zijn of in zwart-wit, afhankelijk van de toepassing. |
