Note: According to the botanical definition, fruit with a structure (the core) that clearly separates the seeds from the ovary tissue. Fruit that is characteristic of the pome is the apple. Small fruits commonly called "berries" are really pomes, such as the hawberries and juneberries. |

Dutch ..... Volgens de botanische definitie een vrucht met een structuur (kern) waarin de zaden duidelijk zijn gescheiden van het vruchtbeginsel. Een vrucht die kenmerkend is voor de pitvrucht is de appel. Kleine vruchten die doorgaans 'bessen' worden genoemd zijn eigenlijk pitvruchten, zoals haagbessen en de vruchten van het krentenboompje. |
