Note: Refers to a Chinese Neolithic period and culture partly synonymous with Qinglian'gang. It takes its name from a site in Taian in Shandong province. Dawenkou flourished between ca. 4300 and ca. 2400 BCE and was geographically located across Shandong, western Henan, northern Anhui, and Jiangsu provinces. In its central area of Shandong, Dawenkou developed out of the Beixin culture and was succeeded by the Longshan culture. Some of the characteristics of later Longshan pottery are seen in Dawenkou ceramics: elaborate ritual vessels, polished blackwares and whitewares, and the use of the potter's wheel. Painted decoration gave way in the Late Dawenkou period (ca. 2900-ca. 2400 BCE) to surface treatments such as cord and basket impressions. Other characteristic artifacts of the period include ivory combs and carved ivory tubes. Dawenkou cemeteries contain the graves of wealthy individuals; some graves contain more than 100 valuable objects such as jade beads and axes.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 中國新石器文化之一，年代與青蓮崗文化部分重疊，因山東省泰安的一處遺址而得名。大汶口文化興盛於西元前約4300年至西元前約2400年之間，分布位置橫跨山東、河南西部、安徽北部、江蘇省等等。大汶口文化由其中心地山東的北辛文化演變而來，緊接其後的是龍山文化。晚期龍山陶器的某些特色，也可見於大汶口陶器，諸如：繁複的祭祀用器，光滑的黑陶及白陶，使用陶輪等等。塗繪裝飾至大汶口文化晚期（西元前約2900年至西元前約2400年）演變以繩紋及籃紋等表面壓印為主。本時期其他特色手工藝品包括象牙梳、象牙管雕刻。大汶口墓地發現富人的墓葬，有些墓地有多達一百多種珍貴的陪葬品，如玉珠、玉斧等。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een Chinese neolithische periode en cultuur die deels samenvalt met Qinglian'gang. De naam is ontleend aan een vindplaats in Taian in de provincie Shandong. Dawenkou kende een bloeitijd tussen circa 4300 en circa 2400 v. Chr. en was gesitueerd in de gehele provincie Shandong, het westen van de provincie Henan, het noorden van de provincie Anhui en de gehele provincie Jiangsu. In de centrale regio van Shandong ontwikkelde Dawenkou zich uit de Beixin-cultuur. De cultuur werd opgevolgd door de Longshan-cultuur, en sommige kenmerken van het latere Longshan-aardewerk zijn reeds te herkennen in het Dawenkou-keramiek: rijk gedetailleerde ritueel vaatwerk, gepolijst zwart- en witgoed, en toepassing van het pottenbakkerswiel.
