Note: A rubberized cloth made by coating two fabric layers with rubber dissolved in naphtha and then pressing them together. This double cloth was the first coated cloth and was developed by Charles Macintosh in Scotland in 1823 for rainwear use.

| Dutch ..... Gecoate stof die is vervaardigd door twee lagen textiel te voorzien van een laagje rubber dat in nafta is opgelost, en de lagen vervolgens op elkaar te drukken. Deze dubbele laag textiel was de eerste gecoate stof die ooit is geproduceerd. De Schot Charles Macintosh ontwikkelde het procedé voor regenkleding. |
| Spanish ..... Ropa engomada hecha al recubrir dos capas de género con goma disuelta en nafta y presionándolas luego entre sí. Esta ropa doble fue la primera ropa revestida y fue desarrollada por Charles Macintosh en Escocia en 1823 para usarla como impermeable.
