Note: Meaning "from below upwards" in Italian, refers to distinctive representations, generally in two-dimensional art, in which foreshortening is employed to create the realistic effect of architecture, figures, and objects being seen from a point of view below the art work, as opposed to a point of view opposite the work of art. It was used to some extent in ancient Roman mural paintings, but is most often seen in Western art dating from the Renaissance forward. It was typically used in ceiling paintings, wall paintings placed high on a wall, and other paintings or bas-reliefs meant to be seen from below. Some, but not all, "di sotto in su" depicitions may be drawn from a "worm's-eye view," which is drawn as if the viewer is lying on the floor and looking upward. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 義大利文意指「由下往上」,多指平面藝術的表現手法,運用前縮透視法,創作出視角由下往上仰觀建築、人物、物件等藝術品的逼真效果,與藝術品正對面視角畫法相反。古羅馬壁畫在某種程度上也應用此手法,但最常見於文藝復興時期以降的西方藝術。此法通常用於天花板壁畫,牆面高處的壁畫,以及其他應從下往上觀賞的繪畫或淺浮雕。部份「仰視角透視」描繪會以「蛙眼透視畫法」或「蟲瞻視野」來繪製,彷彿觀者躺臥在地板向上觀看。 |
Dutch ..... Italiaanse term die letterlijk 'van beneden naar boven toe' betekent en die verwijst naar het toepassen van verkorting, meestal in de tweedimensionale kunst, om een realistisch effect te bereiken in de weergave van architectonische elementen en van figuren en objecten die vanaf een lager standpunt dan het kunstwerk zelf worden beschouwd, en dus niet vanuit een positie recht tegenover het kunstwerk. De term wordt soms ook gebruikt om te verwijzen naar Oud-Romeinse muurschilderingen, maar wordt vooral gebruikt voor westerse kunst uit de renaissance en later. Meestal verwijst de term dan naar plafondschilderingen, wandschilderingen hoog op een muur en andere schilderijen of bas-reliëfs die van onderaf moeten worden bekeken. Sommige 'di sotto in su'-afbeeldingen zijn getekend vanuit een 'kikkerperspectief' of 'wormperspectief', waarbij het de bedoeling is dat de beschouwer vanuit een liggende houding op de vloer omhoog kijkt. |
