Note: A coarse, pebbly, or gritty rock found in certain areas of southern and eastern England; it contains a great deal of iron oxide and is therefore always some shade of brown. It hardens upon exposure but it does not weather well and is not considered a good building stone. |

Dutch ..... Een ruwe, kiezelachtige of korrelige rotssoort die wordt aangetroffen in bepaalde gebieden van zuidelijk en oostelijk Engeland. Deze steensoort bevat een groot percentage ijzeroxide en is daarom altijd enigszins bruinachtig van kleur. Deze steensoort wordt hard nadat hij aan lucht wordt blootgesteld maar is niet erg duurzaam en wordt daarom niet beschouwd als een goede bouwsteen. |
Spanish ..... Roca gruesa, con guijarros o arenosa que se encuentra en algunas zonas del sur y este de Inglaterra. Contiene una alta proporción de óxido de hierro y por lo tanto siempre tiene algún matiz de marrón. Se endurece al exponerla al aire, pero no soporta bien la intemperie y no es considerada una buena piedra de construcción. |
