Note: Stone quarried in the vicinity of the Isle of Purbeck peninsula, Dorset, England; used primarily as a building stone. It is actually a hard semi-metamorphosed limestone formed from the shells of snails. Given that the stone is hard enough to take a fine polish it is called "Purbeck marble," even though it is not fully metamophosed marble. |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種開採於英國多塞特郡(Dorset)波白克半島(Purbeck peninsula)附近之石頭,主要做為建築用石。實為質地堅硬的半變質石灰岩,由蝸牛殼形成。雖然此石頭並非變質完全之大理石,然鑒於其質地夠硬,可高度磨亮,故得名「波白克大理石」。 |
