Note: Watercraft of Frisian origin characterized by an open hull and rounded frame shape, sometimes built with a peak at the prow. The head of the rudder usually includes a decorative carving. Tjotters are adapted for navigating in shallow canals with bridges, and were originally used for fishing and transport of goods and people, but also for pleasure craft. |

Dutch ..... Een Fries vaartuig met ronde spantvorm, soms gepiekt gebouwd. Het is open, maar soms heeft het een dekje voor de mast. De tjotter is aangepast voor varen in ondiepe kanaaltjes en vaartjes met bruggen. Oorspronkelijk voor de visserij en vrachtvervoer, maar ook voor pleziervaart gebruikt. |
