Note: Spoons used to dispense the consecrated wine, at the Eucharist or in other dispensations of the communion. Commonly used in Eastern Orthodox Christian ceremonies, and formerly in the Western church as well. The purpose of the spoon was to prevent spillage of the consecrated wine. It is known from ancient times, when methods of sharing the wine included spoon, straw, and tube. |

Italian ..... I cucchiai per dispensare il vino consacrato, nell'Eucaristia o in altre dispensazioni della comunione. Comunemente usato nelle cerimonie cristiane ortodosse orientali, e precedentemente anche nella chiesa occidentale. Lo scopo del cucchiaio era prevenire la fuoriuscita del vino consacrato. È noto dai tempi antichi, quando i metodi di condivisione del vino includevano cucchiaio, cannula, e cannuccia. |
