pidgins (language, general) (languages (established systems of communication), <languages and writing systems by general type>, ... Associated Concepts (hierarchy name)) |
Note: Languages containing lexical and other features from two or more languages, characteristically with simplified grammar and a smaller vocabulary than the languages from which the pidgin language is derived. Pidgins have no native speakers, as the populations that use them during occasional trade contacts. The term originally referred to languages that developed out of sporadic and limited contacts between Europeans and non-Europeans. |

Additional Notes: |
Dutch ..... Talen met lexicale en andere kenmerken van twee of meer talen, vaak met een vereenvoudigde grammatica en een kleiner vocabulaire dan de talen waaruit de pidgintaal is afgeleid. Pidgins hebben geen moedertaalsprekers; ze worden gebruikt door verschillende bevolkingsgroepen tijdens incidentele handelscontacten. Oorspronkelijk verwees de term naar talen die zich ontwikkelden uit sporadische en beperkte contacten tussen Europeanen en niet-Europeanen.
