Note: The form of the Latin language recognized as standard by writers of the late Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. It is distinguished from the nonstandard Vulgar Latin, from which Romance languages developed. Latin of the Classical period had six regularly used cases in the declension of nouns and adjectives (nominative, vocative, genitive, dative, accusative, ablative), with traces of a locative case in some declensional classes of nouns. |

Dutch ..... De vorm van het Latijn die als standaardtaal is erkend door schrijvers uit de Romeinse Republiek en het Romeinse Keizerrijk. Te onderscheiden van het niet-standaard vulgair Latijn, waaruit de Romaanse talen zich hebben ontwikkeld. Het Latijn uit de klassieke periode had zes regelmatig gebruikte naamvallen in de verbuiging van zelfstandige en bijvoeglijke naamwoorden (nominativus, vocativus, genitivus, dativus, accusativus en ablativus), met resten van de locativus in sommige verbuigingsklassen van zelfstandige naamwoorden.
