Dutch ..... Korte verhalende gedichten in dactylische hexameters uit het oude Griekenland, geïmiteerd door onder anderen de Romeinen. Meestal hebben ze mythologische en romantische thema's. Ze worden gekenmerkt door een levendige beschrijving, een miniatuurkarakter, geleerde zinspelingen en een verheven toon zoals in een elegie.
