Note: Describes the inelastic scattering of light which occurs in a small percentage of photons scattered by an excitation, resulting in a frequency shift due to an energy exchange between the incident light photons and the scattering atoms. The phenomenon was identified by Chandrasekhara Raman in 1928. It forms the subject of study of Raman spectroscopy. |

Dutch ..... De inelastische verstrooiing van licht die plaatsvindt in een klein percentage van de fotonen die door een excitatie verstrooid zijn. Door de energie-uitwisseling tussen de fotonen van het invallende licht en de verstrooide atomen vindt een frequentieverschuiving plaats. Dit fenomeen werd voor het eerst opgemerkt door Chandrasekhara Raman in 1928 en is het onderzoeksobject van de Ramanspectroscopie. |
