Note: During the Iron Age, settlements were the settings for ritual activities which included the making of special deposits. A series of rectangular ditched enclosures known as Viereckschanzen is concentrated in the temperate regions of central Europe. Many include deposits of iron weapons and tools in the ditches. |

Dutch ..... In nederzettingen in de ijzertijd werden verscheidene rituele handelingen verricht, waaronder het begraven van bijzondere verzamelingen objecten. In de gematigde gebieden van Midden-Europa zijn een reeks rechthoekige, door een greppel omringde omheiningen te vinden, die Viereckschanzen genoemd worden. In veel gevallen zijn er ijzeren wapens en gereedschappen begraven in de greppels. |
