Note: A manufactured compound of bismuth that occurs naturally as the mineral bismite. It is a heavy yellow powder, insoluble in water and soluble in acids, used as a pigment for enamels and ceramics. Also used in reflectance/transmittance testing as a colorant that permits "tagging" of a fill or coating in order to evaluate its effectiveness. |

Dutch ..... Een gefabriceerde verbinding van bismut die in de natuur voorkomt als het mineraal bismiet. Het is een zwaar geel poeder, dat niet oplosbaar is in water maar wel in zuren, en dat wordt gebruikt als pigment voor email en keramiek. Het wordt ook gebruikt om reflectie en transmissie te testen, in de hoedanigheid van kleurstof waarmee een opvulling of deklaag kan worden 'getagd' om de effectiviteit ervan te evalueren. |
