Note: Aragonite is a widespread mineral, a crystalline form of calcium carbonate that is found in deposits formed at low temperatures near the surface of the earth, occurring as stalactites, in sediments, iron-ore deposits, and basic rocks. It is also commonly found in pearls, coral, and shells. It was used in antiquity for beads and other decorative artifacts. |

Dutch ..... Aragoniet is een veelvoorkomend mineraal, een kristallijne vorm van calciumcarbonaat, en wordt aangetroffen in afzettingen die bij lage temperatuur dicht bij het aardoppervlak zijn gevormd. Het komt voor in de vorm van stalactieten, in sedimenten, ijzerertsafzettingen en basisch gesteente. Het wordt ook algemeen aangetroffen in parels, koraal en schelpen. In de oudheid werden er kralen en andere decoratieve artefacten van gemaakt. |
