Note: A large and varied class of crystalline metal aluminosilicate minerals containing loosely held water molecules. They are often found in the cavities of igneous rocks. Specialized zeolite matrices can be prepared by varying heat and pressure to aluminum oxide and silicon dioxide. Zeolites have numerous technical applications; e.g., as ion exhange resins, absorbents, or molecular sieves. |

Dutch ..... Een grote en gevarieerde klasse van kristallijne metaalhoudende aluminosilicaatmineralen waarin zich watermoleculen bevinden. Ze komen veel voor in de holtes van stollingsgesteente. Gespecialiseerde zeolietmatrices kunnen worden gemaakt door warmte en druk te variƫren bij aluminiumoxide en siliciumdioxide. Zeolieten hebben talrijke technische toepassing, bijvoorbeeld als ionenuitwisselingshars, absorptiemateriaal of moleculaire zeven. |
