Note: A synthetic organic dye that is an aniline based dyestuff (a triphenylmethane salt) named for the mineral malachite because of its green color. It was first made by Dobner and Fisher in 1877. It is used for the direct dying of silk, wool, jute, and leather, to dye cotton after mordanting, in spot chemical tests for the detection of sulfurous acid and cerium, as an acid-base indicator, and to kill parasites, mold, and fungi in fish tanks. |

Dutch ..... Een synthetische organische verfstof op basis van aniline (een trifenylmethaan zout) die vanwege de groene kleur is vernoemd naar het mineraal malachiet. Het werd in 1877 voor het eerst gemaakt door Dobner en Fisher. Het wordt gebruikt voor het verven van onbewerkte zijde, wol, jute en leer, voor het verven van katoen na het beitsen, bij chemische tests voor het opsporen van zwaveligzuur en cerium, als een indicator op zuurbasis en voor het doden van parasieten en schimmels in aquaria. |
