Pictish (British Isles Medieval styles, Northern European Medieval styles, ... Styles and Periods (hierarchy name)) |
|
Note: Describes the art of the Picts, the inhabitants of what is now northern and eastern Scotland from Caithness to Fife in the years between the Roman occupation of Britain (mid-1st century BCE) and the 9th century. Their use of tattooing may derive from the Roman name of Picti, or painted people. Pictish art is notable for the stylized but vigorous beauty of its carved memorial stones and crosses. Some silverwork is also known. |

Chinese (traditional) .....
