Note: Refers to the style named for the temple complex founded by Jayavarman VII (1181-1220 CE) in 1191 CE. The style is driven by centralized authoritarian rule, a revival in urban planning, the establishment of Buddhism as the state religion, and the infusion of religious architectural symbolism. The style is noted for its use of monumental garuas in the guise of telamones, the installation of hundreds of statues along walkways, religious veneration for the cosmos, and the first occurrence of large sanctuaries decorated with colossal faces on each of its sides representing the bodhisattva Lokeshvara and the king. The style is evidenced by sculpture of coiled serpents in the smaller sanctuaries and by the use of axial pools to symbolize the cosmic lakes.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 以西元1191年間，闍耶跋摩七世（西元1181年至1220年）所建造的寶劍塔加以命名的風格。寶劍塔風格是中央集權、都市計畫復興、佛教成為國教等背景下的產物，融入了宗教建築的象徵。此風格的著名特色包括：以男像柱（telamone）形式出現的紀念碑（monumental garuas）、沿著堤道設置的上百尊雕像、對於宇宙的宗教崇拜，以及首次出現的大型聖殿，聖殿每側都裝飾著大型雙面臉部雕刻，雕刻的兩面分別呈現微笑佛與國王。小型聖殿中的盤蛇雕像以及象徵宇宙之湖的橫直軸向池是此風格的特點。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de stijl die is vernoemd naar het tempelcomplex dat werd opgericht door Jayavarman VII (1181-1220 n. Chr.) in 1191 n. Chr. De stijl hangt sterk samen met een gecentraliseerd autoritair gezag, een wederopleving van stadsplanning, het tot staatsreligie uitroepen van het boeddhisme en het gebruik van religieus symbolisme in de architectuur. De stijl staat bekend om het gebruik van monumentale garua's in de gedaante van telamons, het plaatsen van honderden standbeelden langs wandelgangen, een religieuze verering van de kosmos, en het voor het eerst voorkomen van grote heiligdommen die waren versierd met enorme gezichten aan weerszijden, die de bodhisattva Lokeshvara en de koning moesten voorstellen. De stijl wordt verder gekenmerkt door beeldhouwkunst met kronkelende slangen in de kleinere heiligdommen en door het gebruik van axiale waterbassins die de kosmische meren symboliseren. |

El estilo está dirigido por el gobierno autoritario central, un renacimiento de la planificación urbana, el establecimiento del Budismo como la religión de estado y el conocimiento del simbolismo arquitectónico religioso. El estilo es célebre por su uso de garudas (pájaro simbólico mítico en la religión hinduista) monumentales en la vestimenta de los telamones, la instalación de centenares de estatuas a lo largo de los paseos peatonales, la veneración religiosa por el cosmos y la primera aparición de santuarios grandes decorados con caras colosales en cada uno de sus lados que representan a bodhisattva Lokeshvara y al rey.
