Note: Vises having a threaded nut and flange, which is known as a "box." Early vises had built up boxes, often made by forge welding and brazing parts together; the threads were made by brazing a coil inside a tube. Later, the boxes of box vises were made in solid pieces, often with screw threads being hand turned on a lathe. |

Additional Notes: |

Dutch ..... Bankschroeven met een schroefdraadmoer en een flens, die 'doos' wordt genoemd. Vroeger had een bankschroef een opgebouwde 'doos', vaak gemaakt door middel van lassen en solderen; de schroefdraden werden gemaakt door een spoel in een buis te solderen. Later werd deze 'doos' in één stuk gemaakt, waarbij vaak de schroefdraad met de hand werd gedraaid op een draaibank. |
