Note: Refers to the culture, style, and period of the Zhou dynasty from ca. 1050 to 771 BCE. Bronzes and jades of this period resemble those of the preceding Shang dynasty; ceramics and glazes improved during this time although vessels were often grey. Tradition holds that imperial capitals were established during this period at Feng and Hao on the Feng River in central Shaanxi province. The exact sites of these centers are unknown although palace ruins in Fengxi have been excavated.

| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de periode van de Zhou-dynastie van circa 1050 tot 771 v. Chr. Bronzen voorwerpen en voorwerpen van jade uit deze periode lijken op de voorwerpen uit de voorafgaande Shang-dynastie. Toen het systeem van voorouderverering begon af te brokkelen, werden bronzen door de Zhou gebruikt als giften en als trofeeën om volgelingen te belonen. De kwaliteit van keramiek en glazuurwerk verbeterde in deze periode, hoewel vaatwerk vaak grijsgekleurd was. Jadesnijwerk raakte geleidelijk in onbruik. Volgens de overlevering werden in deze periode keizerlijke hoofdsteden gevestigd in Feng en Hao aan de rivier de Feng in de centrale Shaanxi-provincie. De exacte locaties van deze centra zijn onbekend, maar er zijn ruïnes van paleizen opgegraven in Fengxi. |
