Note: Transparent, whitish veil clouds with a fibrous (hair-like) or smooth appearance. A sheet of cirrostratus which is very extensive, nearly always ends by covering the whole sky. A milky veil of fog (or thin stratus) is distinguished from a veil of cirrostratus of a similar appearance by the halo phenomena which the sun or the moon nearly always produces in a layer of cirrostratus. |

Dutch ..... Doorzichtige, witte sluierwolken met een vezel- of haarachtig, of glad uiterlijk. Een erg grote laag cirrostratus zal uiteindelijk vrijwel altijd de hele hemel bedekken. Een melkachtige mistnevel (of dunne stratuswolk) kan van de soortgelijk ogende cirrostratus worden onderscheiden dankzij het fenomeen van de halo, die door de zon of maan bijna altijd ontstaat in een laag cirrostratus. |
