Note: A type of warping usually associated with wood when one face of a length of lumber shrinks more than the other, resulting in a bowed curvature. Less commonly this process may occur in stone such as marble, due to residual stresses, anisotropic thermal expansion of calcitic grains, variation of fluid contents, and dissolution processes. |

Dutch ..... Een vormverandering die vooral met hout wordt geassocieerd, wanneer één kant van een stuk hout meer krimpt dan de andere, zodat het geheel buigt. Minder vaak treedt dit proces ook op bij steensoorten zoals marmer, als gevolg van inwendige spanning, anisotrope warmte-uitzetting van kalkkorrels, variatie in vloeibare inhoud en ontbindingsprocessen. |
