Note: A type of serpentine that is soft, coarse-grained, with a dull, waxy color. Antigorite was used in Egypt in the Pharaonic period for small vessels, amulets, and scarabs. It is named after the community of Antigorio, Italy, site of the specimen that was first described. |

Dutch ..... Een zacht en grofkorrelig soort serpentijn dat een doffe, wasachtige kleur heeft. Antigoriet werd in de tijd van de farao's in Egypte gebruikt voor kleine vaten, amuletten en scarabeeƫn. Het is genoemd naar de gemeente Antigorio in Italiƫ, de vindplaats van het specimen dat als eerste werd beschreven. |
