Note: Refers to a style of literati painting that emphasized a distinctive relationship between ink as medium and bamboo as subject; the works also included calligraphy. The works are typically monochrome or subtly colored, deliberately emphasizing the brushwork required to create the stalks and leaves of bamboo, positioned near the brushwork of the calligraphy. Bamboo was symbolic in Chinese culture for moral integrity, purity, and the ability to withstand adversity, qualities with which the literati identified themselves. |

Dutch ..... Verwijst naar een stijl in de literati-schilderkunst waarin het accent lag op de specifieke relatie tussen inkt als medium en bamboe als thema; er vallen ook kalligrafische werken onder. Het werk is meestal monochroom of subtiel gekleurd, met opzettelijke benadrukking van de penseelvoering die nodig is om de stengels en bladeren van de bamboe te schilderen. Het penseelwerk is verwant aan dat van kalligrafie. Volgens de Chinese cultuur symboliseerde bamboe morele onkreukbaarheid, zuiverheid en het vermogen om tegenslag te overwinnen, alle eigenschappen waarmee de literati zichzelf wilden identificeren. |
Spanish ..... Se refiere a un estilo de la pintura literaria que acentuó una relación distintiva entre la tinta y el bambú como temas. Los trabajos son típicamente monocromo o coloreado sutilmente, deliberadamente acentuando los tallos y las hojas del bambú. El bambú era simbólico en la cultura china para la integridad moral, la pureza, y la capacidad soportar la adversidad. |
