Note: Decorative opaque glass made by mixing different colors in order to imitate natural semi-precious stones such as chalcedony, jasper, and onyx as well as agate. Agate glass was produced in ancient Rome and from the late 15th century onward was produced in Venice and Germany. It is similar in appearance to pâte de verre which is produced by a different process. The term also refers to a type of art glass developed by Tiffany that resembles agate stone. |

Dutch ..... Decoratief ondoorschijnend glas gemaakt door verschillende kleuren te mengen, om zo natuurlijke halfedelstenen als chalcedoon, jaspis, onyx en agaat te imiteren. Agaatglas werd in het oude Rome geproduceerd en vanaf de 15de eeuw ook in Venetië en Duitsland. Het lijkt op pâte de verre, waarvoor een ander productieproces wordt gebruikt. De term verwijst ook naar een soort kunstglas, ontwikkeld door Tiffany, dat lijkt op agaat. |
Spanish ..... Vidrio decorativo opaco fabricado por mezcla de diferentes colores con el fin de imitar piedras semipreciosas naturales. También un tipo de vidrio artístico desarrollado por Tiffany que asemeja piedra de ágata. |
