Note: Folk instruments from the Appalachian region of the United States, usually consisting of a long figure-eight shaped box, a fretted fingerboard set centrally along its entire length, and from three to five metal strings tensioned by lateral pegs. For the American chordophones of similar construction, but struck with hammers instead of plucked, use "hammer dulcimers." |

Dutch ..... Instrumenten bestaande uit een lange, achtvormige doos, een toets met frets die in het midden over de gehele lengte van het instrument loopt en drie tot vijf metalen snaren die met stemschroeven aan de zijkant op spanning worden gehouden; oorspronkelijk ontwikkeld en bespeeld in het Appalachengebied in de Verenigde Staten. Gebruik 'geslagen hakkeborden' voor Amerikaanse chordofonen met eenzelfde bouw die echter met hamertjes worden aangeslagen. |
German ..... Folkloreinstrument aus der Appalachenregion der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika, gewöhnlich bestehend aus einem langen Kasten in 8-Form, einem Griffbrett mit Bünden, das sich mittig über die gesamte Länge der Resonanzdecke erstreckt, und mit drei bis fünf Metallsaiten, die durch seitenständige Wirbel gespannt werden. Für die amerikanischen Chordofone ähnlicher Bauweise, die jedoch mit Schlägeln angeschlagen anstatt gezupft werden, siehe ["American Hammer Dulcimer"](300218041). |
Spanish ..... Úsese para instrumentos folclóricos de la región de los Apalaches de los Estados Unidos que generalmente consisten en una caja larga en forma de número ocho, un diapasón con trastes montado al centro a todo su largo, y de tres a cinco cuerdas de metal tensadas mediante clavijas laterales. Para los cordófonos norteamericanos de similar construcción, pero percutados con martillos en lugar de punteados, use "dulcimer de martillo”. |
