Note: Period and style that coincides with the rule of emperor Mutsuhito, called Meiji, from 1868 to 1912. The period is characterized by a transformation from feudalism to a modern industrial state, taking western nations as a model. After the Vienna Exposition of 1873, artists were encouraged to produce traditional arts and crafts for export, such as carvings in wood and ivory and laquer. The art of the period also saw the influence of western art and architecture. |

Dutch ..... Verwijst naar de periode die samenvalt met de regeerperiode van keizer Mutsuhito, genaamd Meiji, 1868-1912. De periode wordt gekenmerkt door een transformatie van het feodalisme naar een moderne industriële staat, waarbij westerse naties als een model werden genomen. Na de Weense Expositie van 1873 werden de kunstenaars aangemoedigd om traditionele kunsten en ambachten voor de export te produceren, zoals gravures in hout en ivoor en lak. De kunst uit deze periode werd ook beïnvloed door westerse kunst en architectuur. |

Después de la exposición de Viena de 1873, se animó a los artistas a que produjeran arte y los artes tradicionales para la exportación, tal como tallas en madera y marfil y laqueado.
