Note: Documents in early modern institutions of higher education for announcing academic dissertations to be defended in public.These decorated broadsheets summarise the student’s conclusion. The aim of the engraved posters was mainly to advertise the disputation and to introduce the theses in question. The practice was mostly common in Catholic European countries: Italy, France, the Southern Netherlands, Germany and Austria.

| Dutch ..... Documenten vanaf de 17de eeuw dat een thesisverdediging/disputatio aan een hoger instituut, universiteit of academie aangekondigen. Dit zijn gedrukte bladzijden, meestal één pagina, waarin enkele vaste elementen terugkeren: de naam van de student, de faculteit en een korte samenvatting of conclusie van het onderzoek dat ter verdediging voorligt. Vaak zijn thesisbladen versierd met gravures of typografische ornamenten of kaders. Dit gebruik kwam vooral voor in Italië, Frankrijk, Duitsland, Oostenrijk, Zwitserland en in de Lage Landen. |
