Note: Alexandrite is a mineral and a variety of chrysoberil. It was discovered in 1832 in the Urals and is named after the Russian Tsar Alexander II. Alexandrite can be green by daylight and red by incandescent light. Other varieties of alexandrite may be yellowish or pink in daylight and a columbine or raspberry red by incandescent light. |

Dutch ..... Alexandriet is een mineraal en een variëteit van chrysoberil. Het werd in 1832 ontdekt in de Oeral en is genoemd naar de Russische tsaar Alexander II. Alexandriet is groen bij daglicht en rood bij gloeilamplicht. Andere variëteiten van alexandriet kunnen geelachtig of roze zijn bij daglicht en akelei- of frambozenrood bij gloeilamplicht. |
