Note: White, sweet-tasting, crystalline sugar alcohol which occurs naturally in many plants and algae. Mannitol is used widely as a dietary supplement and dietetic sweetener. In conservation, mannitol is used in tandem with sucrose for impregnation of waterlogged wood.

Dutch ..... Witte, zoet smakende kristallijne suikeralcohol die van nature voorkomt in veel planten en algen. Mannitol wordt veel gebruikt als supplement en zoetstof in diëten. In de conservering wordt mannitol samen met sucrose gebruikt voor de impregnatie van hout dat met water is doortrokken.
