Note: Reinterment. In conservation context, refers to reburial of human remains or cultural artifacts unearthed or exposed during excavation. Motivations for reburial may be ethical in nature (as with regard to what was purposely buried) or protective (e.g. the reburial of an ancient mosaic pavement exposed to the elements). For the filling in of earth removed, use "backfilling." |

In een conserveringscontext verwijst de term naar het opnieuw begraven van menselijke resten of culturele objecten die tijdens een opgraving zijn gevonden of blootgelegd. Redenen hiervoor kunnen te maken hebben met ethiek (wat betreft dingen die opzettelijk begraven zijn) of bescherming (zoals bij het herbegraven van een oud mozaïek om verdere aantasting te voorkomen). Gebruik 'dichtgooien' voor het opnieuw opvullen van afgegraven aarde. |
