Dutch ..... Orde van vier levende soorten in één familie. Het zijn zeer grote viervoeters met lange gebogen ivoren slagtanden, een slurf waarmee ze dingen kunnen grijpen, zuilvormige poten, een zeer groot hoofd met slaapklieren en grote platte oren. Er zijn minstens 170 fossiele soorten, zoals mammoeten en mastodonten. |
