Note: Refers to the beginning of the ancient Greek Classical period and style, from around 480 BCE to around 450 BCE. In sculpture it is distinguished from the earlier Archaic style in that the human figure is portrayed with increased naturalism, including increased subtlety of facial expressions and contrapposto in standing figures. In vase painting there are regional variations, but in general there is increased mastery of the human figure and drapery. In architecture, the aesthetics of the late sixth and early fifth centuries are continued and refined.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 指稱自西元前480年至西元前450年間發展的古希臘古典時代與風格的起始階段。在雕塑作品方面，此時期與早期古代風格的不同之處，在於以更為自然寫實的方式加以描繪人物外型，包含了日益微妙細緻的臉部表情刻畫，以及站姿人像兩腿歇站時的姿勢平衡/身體對應（contrapposto）。在花瓶畫方面則是發展出地方性變化，但是一般而言，對於人物造型與紡織品的掌握度已較為純熟。而在建築方面，則是延續西元前第6世紀的晚期與第5世紀早期時發展出的美學，並且進一步加以精鍊。 |
| Dutch ..... Verwijst naar het begin van de oud-Griekse klassieke periode en stijl, van circa 480 tot circa 450 v. Chr. De beeldhouwkunst in deze tijd onderscheidt zich van de eerdere archaïsche stijl doordat de menselijke vorm wordt geportretteerd met een toenemend naturalisme, met inbegrip van meer subtiliteit in gezichtsuitdrukkingen en contrapost in staande figuren. De vaasschilderkunst vertoont regionale verschillen, maar in het algemeen is ook hier sprake van een toegenomen beheersing van de menselijke vorm en van draperie. In de architectuur wordt de esthetiek van de late 6de en de vroege 5de eeuw voortgezet en verfijnd. |
| French ..... Fait référence au commencement de la période et du style classique de la Grèce antique, qui débute vers 480 avant J.-C. et se termine vers 450 avant notre ère. En sculpture, il se distingue du style archaïque antérieur par un naturalisme accru de la représentation de la figure humaine, y compris une plus grande subtilité des expressions faciales et du contrapposto pour les figures debout. Dans la peinture sur vase, il existe des variations régionales, mais de manière générale, on constate une plus grande maîtrise de la figure humaine et des drapés. En architecture, l’esthétique de la fin du 6e et du début du 5e siècle se poursuit et se perfectionne. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere al principio del período y estilo Clásico Griego antiguo, desde alrededor del 480 a.C a alrededor del 450 a.C. En escultura se diferencia del estilo Arcaico más temprano en que la figura humana se retrata con creciente naturalismo que incluye una mayor sutileza en las expresiones faciales y contrapposto (poses en las que el cuerpo humano presenta una torsión tal que el pecho y los hombros apuntan en una dirección y las caderas y piernas en otra, a modo de contrapeso) en figuras en pie. En pintura de jarrón hay variaciones regionales, pero en general hay mayor dominio de la figura humana y vestimenta. En arquitectura, las estética de fines del siglo VI y principios del siglo V son continuados y refinados. |
