Note: Culture of indigenous Ona South Americans, who once inhabited southern Argentina and Chile, including the island of Tierra del Fuego. They were hunters and gatherers who subsisted chiefly on guanaco, various small animals, shellfish, cormorants, and berries. They were historically divided into two major subdivisions: Selk'nam and Haush. They spoke different dialects and had slightly different cultures. |
