Note: Pigment comprising a mixture of natural black oxides and carbon black, traditionally produced by charring desiccated grape vines and stems. Possesses a good tinting strength with a bluish black hue. Vine black did not have the intensity or tinting strength of lampblack or ivory black, but it had excellent lightfastness.
