Note: A white marble from Cappadocia, Turkey that has light yellow veins over which there are hair lines of a darker shade of yellow. It can be so highly polished that it can create a reflection like a mirror; for this reason the emperor Domitian supposedly had a corridor lined with it. Little or none remains from antiquity. |

Dutch ..... Wit marmer uit Cappadocië, Turkije, lichtgeel geaderd met daaroverheen haarlijntjes in een donkerder tint geel. Het marmer kan zo fijn gepolijst worden dat het op een spiegel lijkt; om die reden zou keizer Domitianus dit marmer langs een hele gang hebben laten aanbrengen. Er is vrijwel niets van uit de oudheid bewaard gebleven. |
Spanish ..... Mármol blanco de Cappadocia, Turquía, que tiene venas amarillas claras por sobre las cuales hay unas líneas finísimas de un tono más oscuro de amarillo. Puede ser tan pulido como para crear un reflejo de espejo. Por esta razón el emperador Domiciano poseía, supuestamente, un corredor revestido de este mármol. No quedan prácticamente restos de la Antigüedad.
