Note: A shell marble which is usually either light purple or reddish brown in color. Its name means 'peacock's eye' in Italian, the eye referring to the presence of petrified oyster shells. There are two columns made of this marble in the Vatican Library. |

Dutch ..... Een schelpmarmer dat meestal lichtpaars of roodachtig bruin is. De naam is Italiaans voor 'pauwenoog', als verwijzing naar de versteende oesterschelpen die op ogen lijken. Twee zuilen in de Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana zijn van dit marmer gemaakt. |
Spanish ..... Mármol de concha habitualmente violeta claro o marrón rojizo. Su nombre quiere decir "ojo de pavo real" en italiano, refiriéndose el ojo a la presencia de conchas de ostras petrificadas. Existen dos columnas hechas con este mármol en la Biblioteca del Vaticano.
