|
Note: A type of breccia marble, recognizable for the many chips of chalky white which go against the grain of the marble and look like wet paint. Its name may derive from its resemblance to a paste of sugar plums or it may derive from 'Semo Sancus,' a Sabine divinity, to whom statues may have been carved out of this material. |

Dutch ..... Een soort bardiglio dat herkenbaar is aan de vele kalkwitte splinters die afsteken tegen de korrels op het marmer en die lijken op natte verf. De naam verwijst wellicht naar de gelijkenis met de vruchten van het Canadese krentenboompje, maar kan ook zijn afgeleid van 'Semo Sancus', een Sabijnse godheid voor wie beelden in dit materiaal werden uitgesneden. |
Spanish ..... Tipo de mármol breccia que se reconoce por trozos numerosos de blanco tiza que se destacan contra el grano del mármol y parecen pintura fresca. Su nombre se deriva de su semejanza a una pasta de ciruelas confitadas o puede derivarse de "Semo Sancus," una divinidad sabina a la cual pueden habérsele esculpido estatuas de este material.
