WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Staff Feedback on Getty Benefits

Getty strives to offer benefits that meet your needs. Getty Human Resources will be launching a survey today, May 17, to learn more about the benefits you value, and your satisfaction with the current options. Your participation will help us evaluate whether we make changes. At 11 a.m. today, benefit-eligible employees will receive a personalized link in an email from Mercer Sirota. If you don’t see the email, please check your junk folder. The survey will remain open until May 28. If you have any questions or difficulty accessing the survey, please contact Human Resources.

Masks Still Required on Sites

Despite the recent change in mask guidelines from the CDC, Getty continues to operate under L.A. County orders that require staff and visitors to wear masks both indoors and outdoors at all Getty sites.

Reminder: Getty Center Preview Days

Staff, docents, and volunteers, along with members of their households, are invited to preview the Getty Center May 18–23, before we open to the public. Reservations are free and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Library Curbside Service

The next Getty Library Curbside Service is May 18–20. You can still make an appointment in Reservio, our self-scheduling reservation system, to pick up items that you requested April 15–May 12, 2021, or to return items that you have at home. Instructions for making an appointment are in the Getty Library Curbside Service appointment information and Reservio instructions document (attached). Curbside service dates and related information are also listed on the Getty Library at Home guide’s Circulation Curbside Service page.

Please note that curbside service hours are now 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with five-minute appointment times. When picking up your books, please park at the designated location and walk to the labeled book cart on the sidewalk.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, ACCESSIBILITY, AND INCLUSION (DEAI)

Development DEAI Task Force Update

The Development DEAI Task Force has made diversification of the Getty Patron Program one of its priorities. The Task Force identified prospective donors from 15 ethnically diverse L.A. neighborhoods to share information about the Patron Program, and expanded its outreach beyond the five-to-10 mile radius around the Getty Center and Villa. These, along with additional efforts, have resulted in the addition of 25 newly represented zip codes in the Patron community. As a way to promote socioeconomic diversity among donors, Development also created the Getty Fund, which allows donors to give at any dollar amount (whereas Patron Program giving begins at $1,000 annually).

The Development team would like to thank colleagues from the Museum, GCI, and GRI for their support and participation in virtual Patron events, and the Foundation for providing the terrific initiative to fundraise for the L.A. Arts Recovery Fund. We are excited to recognize our Patrons this week at our virtual Patron Sunset Reception on Thursday, May 20.

(L.A. Arts Recovery Fund).

Art Break: Touching Pictures

In the past year of violence and loss, grief has taken many forms. The inability to touch those lost or physically console loved ones has made the process of mourning especially difficult. On May 21 at noon, artist Jenelle Esparza and curator Naoko Takahatake discuss powerful prints and drawings by Käthe Kollwitz and deeply personal textiles by Esparza that grapple with grief. Moderated by curator Mazie Harris. Register for this free online event.
