WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Getty Center Drive

Getty Center Drive will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 7 a.m.-7 p.m until April 17 for replacement of the sidewalk. Pre-approved staff arriving or departing by car should remember to use the South Gate and park at the top of the hill. Pedestrian access to the site will not be affected by the construction, but remains restricted due to Getty's closure. Pre-approved staff can still walk in on Getty Center Drive and be transported by security patrol to the top of the hill.

Vanpool and Carpool Programs Paused

We are temporarily discontinuing the vanpool program to support the need for social distancing, and in light of the reality that most participants are now working from home. Staff who are continuing to use a vanpool to get to the Getty Center or Getty Villa should cease commuting by vanpool no later than April 1. If you are currently enrolled in the vanpool program, please be aware that the payroll deductions will no longer be taken from your check beginning with your April 10 check.

We are currently working with Commute with Enterprise to determine next steps. Rather than terminating the program, we are hopeful it can be suspended until we are able to resume normal operations. Our Transportation Coordinator, Hilary Martinez, will provide updates to all primary drivers once we have an agreement with Commute with Enterprise on how best to proceed.

We would also like to note that now is not a good time to participate in a carpool, considering the urgent need for social distancing.

Many thanks to everyone who has been participating in our transportation initiatives. We look forward to resuming our programs as soon as possible. If you have vanpool-related questions, please contact parking@getty.edu.

No more paper statements

With most staff working remotely, Getty will discontinue printing direct deposit advices (the paper statement of a direct-deposited pay check), starting with your April 10 paycheck. Employees may access direct deposit information through Employee Self Service. For information on how to view your paycheck on ESS, see Viewing and Printing Your Pay Advice. If you need help accessing ESS, please contact the Getty Digital helpdesk at GettyDigitalHelp@Getty.edu or 310-440-1199.

In addition, effective April 1, expense checks will no longer be printed and instead will be direct-deposited based on the payroll deposit information on file.

Slack Tips

Slack is a great communication tool for bridging the gap, especially while we are working remotely. There are a few things to know for a better experience. Check out Slack Tips and Troubleshooting to learn about privacy, comment threads, using Zoom with Slack, and more.

Getty HR Website

HR is continually adding relevant information to the HR website to help support employees during this time. Find information about telemedicine, financial management resources, access to webinars, mail order prescriptions, and more. You may access https://gettyhr.com from anywhere. You may also reach HR with questions by sending an email to hr@getty.edu or calling 310-440-6523. Someone will respond promptly to your email or voice mail.

eAppraisal Open Now

HR has launched the eAppraisal process earlier than usual, to allow for timely completion of self-assessments and annual reviews while staff are working from home. eAppraisal opens today, Monday, March 23, and will remain open until June 1. You can access eAppraisal from any computer. A Getty computer or connection to the Getty network is not required to write your appraisals. Although the self-assessment and annual appraisal processes will not officially close until June 1, your supervisor and/or program administrator may ask you to complete your tasks before that date. Please consult with your supervisor regarding their specific expectations.

My Secure Advantage (MSA)

MSA is our new financial wellness partner from whom benefits-eligible employees may get free financial coaching. To help launch this program, MSA is offering an incentive for Getty employees to complete an online assessment, which helps them support you better. You must use Chrome (not Internet Explorer) to complete the assessment but you can do this from any computer. Anyone who completes it by April 15th will be entered to win a $100 Amazon gift card from MSA.

NEWS

The Florentine Codex

The Florentine Codex is called the first indigenous encyclopedia of the New World. A major GRI initiative seeks to provide greater access to this remarkable manuscript, completed in 1577. It documents the culture, politics, natural science, and history of the Aztecs in a period of Mexican history marked by great cultural transformation, social upheaval, and, ahem, epidemics. Read more about the Florentine Codex and the GRI initiative on the Iris.

Getty/ACLS Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Foundation announced the 2021-21 Getty/ACLS postdoctoral fellowships. The 10 recipients are making significant contributions to art history with projects that include Syrian migration during the Roman Empire, Senegal's role in the history of modern photography, and imagery of Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata.
