Dear Colleagues,

This year has presented unforeseen challenges. It has also provided an opportunity to pause, reprioritize, and think deeply about our commitments and our core values. It has taught us a lot about resilience, health and community. I have talked with many of you and heard your stories of loss, fear, and struggles with work-life balance. I’ve also heard inspiring stories about collaboration and creativity. You have found new ways to collaborate on projects with colleagues near and far. You have been innovative in connecting with visitors and schools through virtual programs. You are also working together here on very important issues that will impact our work going forward. Our Getty community continues to inspire me.

I miss seeing you all in person. I wish we could join together as we do every year at our annual Winter Celebration. This has always been one of the highlights of the year for me. I will miss celebrating with you in person – listening to some of you impress us with your karaoke singing, watching bidding wars at the silent auction, and cutting a rug on the dance floor. We are donating funds we otherwise would have spent on our celebration this year to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, to help the many members of our community experiencing food insecurity during these challenging times.

While we cannot gather in person, I want to share a few of our favorite holiday traditions virtually. Below and attached please find links to several of these Getty Holiday Traditions, some that help support our community and others that are reminders of our times together.

UN MENSAJE NAVIDEÑO DE JIM CUNO

 

Queridos colegas,

Este año ha presentado imprevistos dificultoso. También ha brindado la oportunidad de hacer una pausa, cambiar las prioridades y pensar profundamente sobre nuestros compromisos y nuestros valores fundamentales. Nos ha enseñado mucho sobre resiliencia, salud y comunidad. Yo he hablado con muchos de ustedes y escuchado sus historias de pérdida, miedo y luchas con el equilibrio entre el trabajo y la vida personal. También he escuchado historias inspiradoras sobre colaboración y creatividad. Ustedes han encontrado nuevas formas de colaborar en proyectos con colegas cercanos y lejanos. Han sido innovadores al conectarse con los visitantes y escuelas a través de programas virtuales. Nuestra comunidad de Getty continúa inspirándome.

Extraño verlos a todos en persona. Ojalá pudiéramos unirnos como lo hacíamos todos los años en nuestra fiesta anual Celebración de Invierno. Esta siempre ha sido una de las mejores partes del año para mí. Extrañaré celebrar con ustedes en persona: escuchar a algunos de ustedes impresionarnos con su canto de karaoke, ver guerras de ofertas en la subasta y moviéndose en la pista de baile. Estamos donando fondos que de otra manera hubiéramos gastado en nuestra celebración este año al ‘Los Angeles Regional Food Bank’ (banco de comida regional de Los Ángeles), para ayudar a los muchos miembros de nuestra comunidad que experimentan inseguridad alimentaria durante estos tiempos difíciles.

Mientras no podamos reunirnos en persona, quiero compartir algunas de nuestras tradiciones navideñas favoritas de forma virtual.
